Michal Matějovský gained wealth of experience |
- 16. 9. 2007, Sachsenring, Germany -Last weekend, racing driver Michal Matějovský, with the Alfa Romeo 156 S 2000 car, took part in his first race of Division 1 of the German series 'ADAC PROCAR Serie', contested by WTCC specification vehicles manufactured up to the year 2005. This racing event was undertaken by the team as a test race, with the objective of gathering the maximum possible experience. This also was Matějovský's goal for the races. And, he delivered. Moreover, Michal managed to set the second best time of the timed practice. This aroused great interest, which was intensified by the fact that his time even had been ranked first until the last moments of the timed practice. The subsequent events do not detract from Michal's excellent debut in this series. That is, just in the course of Michal's fastest lap, one of the drivers went off the track after loosing control of his car, and the yellow flag had to be put out. When the timed practice session finished, Michal's time was cancelled. And, on top of that, to crown it all, Michal was given a penalty, namely, the stewards put him back in the timed practice overall standings by three spots. In the main race, Michal did not make a good start and dropped to the back of the pack. However, owing to his smooth driving style, he gradually fought his way up to run seventh. Nevertheless, this caused the tyres to wear down; from lap 6, they were in poor condition and Michal could not improve his position any further. A similar situation also occurred in the second race, with Michal coming eighth in the end. The next race of the 'ADAC PROCAR Serie' awaits Matějovský on 30 September 2007. However, before this event takes place, Michal will participate in the last racing event of the 2007 Česká pojišťovna - Škoda Octavia Cup at the Brno circuit at the end of this week to contest the second place of the overall standings of this series. |
