At the first weekend in April, Michal Dolák, of the CarDo Racing Team, took part in his debut truck race, that is, he contested the FIA European Truck Racing Cup event held in Barcelona, Spain.
Right away in Saturday's qualifying session, Michal Dolák was one of the eight drivers running at the front of the field. But then, after a slight collision, he finished eleventh. In the subsequent Cup Race, he aimed to take one of the point-scoring positions. And, he managed, coming tenth.
The course of Sunday's races was similar - qualifying, collision and, in the end, the twelfth place. However, Michal Dolák drove the subsequent Cup Race enthusiastically again and fought his way from the twelfth position of the starting grid to the tenth place at the finish line to score again, after surpassing Lachez, of France, and even the well-known truck driver Eduardo Rodriguez, of Portugal.
'In this first racing event, unfortunately, we experienced technical troubles with the differential, which impaired the truck's behaviour particularly when it was running through corners. We were trying hard to eliminate the fault already in the course of the races in Barcelona. The young driver, in his debut race, claimed the tenth place twice, competing against 24 truck drivers from the whole of Europe. I think that this is a definite success offering very encouraging prospects for the upcoming races,' said the team's technical manager Roman Seidl after coming back to the Czech Republic.
