The second event of this year of the FIA European Truck Racing Cup series takes place this weekend at the Zolder Circuit, Belgium, and Michal Dolák, with his MAN truck, is ready to take part. Manager Roman Seidl, before leaving for Belgium, said: 'The damage that the truck suffered in the collisions at the first racing event in Barcelona has been repaired and the truck is fully prepared to engage in the fierce battles of the Cup race. Nevertheless, on the way to Zolder, we will stop at the Autodrom Most Circuit today to perform short testing.'
However, the Zolder Circuit might be far away for many of us and so those interested can enjoy a slightly different truck contest, that is, the 'Extrem Truck Trial' event (www.extremtrucktrial.cz), held this weekend in the town of Mohelnice, near Olomouc. Not only trucks, but also purpose-built unique prototype vehicles will be trying, on the tracks that are situated on the treacherous grounds of the Mohelnice quarry, to break through the limits set by the laws of physics. 59 vehicles have been entered for this year of the 'ČSAD Logistik Cup' truck trial contest, one-third more than last year, said the director of the race, Ms Zuzana Boučková. The spectators will have the opportunity to see for example the modified Tatra 813 truck, fitted with a rear-mounted down-force wing and wooden, hand-carved dashboard, or the refurbished Tatra Truck with which Karel Loprais took part in the Dakar Rally in 1995. The event starts at 10.00 a.m. on Saturday, 19 May, and ends on Sunday afternoon.
