- 6.-8. 4. 2007, Kimbolton, UK -
The first weekend event of the Stars of Tomorrow karting series took place in Kimbolton (near Cambridge, to the north of London) last weekend, with more than thirty drivers taking part. The Stars of Tomorrow series attracts the attention of all types of mass media, including television. Within the two weekend days, two separate final races are held, each of them preceded by a timed practice session and by two heats.
The beginning on Saturday was a bit unlucky for Jiří Forman. He did not complete the timed practice session for technical reasons (a transmission wheel of his kart became loose), nor did he complete the first heat, due to a collision that occurred shortly after the start. In the second heat, he came 14th. This earned him only the 18th place on the grid for the finals. In this race, however, he fared very well. He managed to avoid any collision at the start, and kept overtaking his rivals throughout the whole race to claim the excellent 7th place. On Sunday, he succeeded in completing the timed practice and took one of the top ten places in each of the two heats. This put him to the eighth position of the starting grid of the final race. However, he did not make a good start. Despite that, he gradually moved up in an excellent way to finish in the eighth place.
So, the whole weekend event was very successful for the young driver Jiří Forman. He claimed one of the top ten places in each of the final races and, moreover, he was the best driver of the ZIP team. It was very agreeable to see him being offered congratulations by the team's managers and team-mates. They did expect him to achieve such results, but not before the middle of the season.
