The Alcatel - Lucent Motorsport team's driver Miroslav Forman extended his lead in the overall standings of the 2000cc category of Division 4 of the Championship of the Czech Republic by winning the sprint race of the Grand Prix of Slovakia in Piešťany on Sunday.
In the qualifying session, the driver of the team based in Hradec Králové, at the wheel of an Audi A4 car, clocked the third fastest time, putting him to the second line of the starting grid. In the race, Miroslav Forman gradually moved up to run second, behind Zdeno Mikulášek, of Slovakia. Mikulášek was the first to cross the finish line; however, he was given a penalty for cutting the track short, and so, it was Miroslav Forman that took the first prize in the end.
"Mirek's driving style was faultless. He was one of the few drivers whose cars did not suffer any gashes during the race," said the general manager of the team, Stanislav Matějovský. The next racing event of the Touring Car Championship of the Czech Republic will take place from 22 to 23 September, at the Brno circuit.
