Racing drivers' 2006 GOLDEN STEERING WHEEL award ceremony, the highlight of the 30th year of the motor-sport survey, was held on Monday, 29 January 2007, in the marquee Palazzo in Prague.
In the RACING CIRCUIT category, the 2006 Golden Steering Wheel was awarded to Tomáš Enge, while Jan Kopecký and Dan Michl were rewarded in the RALLY AND ENDURANCE RACE and HILL-CLIMB RACE categories respectively. Petr Bartoš won the AUTOCROSS AND RALLY-CROSS category, and Patrik Hájek took the Golden Steering Wheel in the KART category. This year's innovation was the newly introduced category GOLDEN HANDLEBAR, with the award given to Lukáš Pešek, a 125-cc MotoGP racer.
The greatest joy for Stanislav Matějovský's team was the Prize of Eliška Junková, which was awarded in the category of woman racing drivers to Laura Hájková, the team's new member.
Special awards were given to Tomáš Kotek (Jiří Sedlář Prize), Karel Loprais (Zdeněk Vojtěch Prize), Filip Schovánek (Award for the best co-driver of the year) and to Tomáš Enge (Speed Award, for the highest speed attained in the 2006 races - 313.211 km/hour, Motegi, 2 April 2006).
