The prestigious 2007 FIA European Touring Car Cup opened with the first practice sessions at the ADRIA INTERNATIONAL RACEWAY (adriaraceway.com) in Italy on Friday, 26 October 2007. More than thirty drivers from eleven European countries took part in this racing event, amid great interest of mass media.

Michal Matějovský started testing at 14.00. After approximately one hour, he clocked the time of 1.42.615, putting him at the tenth place of the qualifying within his group (altogether 24 drivers). The average speed values of about 100 km/h corresponded to the conditions on the track - the practice took place in constant rain, and wet tyres were ordered. 'At the beginning, I was satisfied with the testing. As I got to know the track I managed to improve my lap times rather quickly. But then, a defect in the engine became evident and so I decided to discontinue the testing. Engine repair is in progress now and everything should be all right by the morning,' said Michal Matějovský after Friday's testing.

The ETCC weekend event at Adria continues on Saturday morning with another two free practice sessions. The qualifying for the Sunday races takes place at 15.00.
