Matějovský had to retire from the race due to engine breakdown

Matějovský had to retire from the first race at Adria due to the engine breakdown - 28. 10. 2007, Adria, Italy-

On Sunday morning, the O2 MOTORSPORT team started the day by taking part in the warm-up session. At that time, no indications were observed of any possible trouble that might occur in the upcoming races. The car was in perfect order, the same as in the Saturday qualifying. At 12.30 punctually, preparations for the start of the first race began. Based on the results of the qualifying, Michal Matějovský was at the 13th spot of the grid, that is, in the seventh row. Within the two laps after the start, he fought a battle with Kay, of Great Britain, but then, suddenly, the engine of his car broke down and Matějovský had to leave the track.

'The mechanical damage suffered by the engine is so serious that we have to withdraw from the races,' the team's general manager, Stanislav Matějovský, reported to the technical supervisors shortly after the car was inspected. And, he added: 'We are very sad about it, because we had prepared very well for this racing event. As the results of the qualifying and the beginning of the first race suggest, Michal definitely was in a position to take a top-twelve placing.'

It was Engstrom, of Sweden, with a Honda Accord Euro R, who won the first race. For detailed results of the entire weekend racing event please go to www.fiaetcc.com.
