At the Brno circuit, Matějovský added another success to his excellent achievements of the first racing event

Michal Matějovský claimed the second place in the first Cup Race at the Brno circuit, with E. Janiš and M. Vorba coming first and third respectively - 17. 6. 2007, Brno -

Another two-race event of this year of the Česká pojišťovna Škoda Octavia Cup was held at the Brno Masaryk Circuit last weekend, attended by the fine audience that was cheering on the drivers in an excellent way.

Michal Matějovský continued his series of fine achievements that he started at the first racing event held at the Most circuit, and, by winning the timed practice, attracted attention right at the beginning. In the subsequent superpole session contested by the ten top-placed drivers, Michal Matějovský clocked the second best time, coming behind Erik Janiš, who was first. So, Michal Matějovský and Erik Janiš started the Saturday Cup Race from the first line of the grid. Soon after the start, Michal managed to take the lead, running ahead of Janiš. Afterwards, Janiš was overtaken by Vorba. While Matějovský was trying to get away, Janiš gradually moved up to claim the second position again and started chasing Michal Matějovský. Within the last third of the 12-lap race, when Michal Matějovský was running along the rising section of the track before the home straight, Erik Janiš managed to overtake him. So, Michal Matějovský finished in second place. After the race, he said: 'Unfortunately, the tyres of my car did not withstand the heat load they were exposed to during the race and, with about three laps to go, the car's behaviour deteriorated. Despite that, I think that the second place is fine.'

In the second Cup Race, Matějovský made a very good start and was moving ahead. Unfortunately, his car was hit by Michael Vorba in one of the duels shortly after the start, and the car's front and rear axle wheel alignment impaired. Michal Matějovský tried to cover several more laps, fighting his rivals, but he simply could not manage with the damaged car; on lap eight, he had to retire from the race.

Ctirad Hájek, another driver of the O2 Motorsport team, also fared very well. By winning a point-scoring place in each of the weekend races, he gained 10 points altogether, helping the team in a significant way to take the third place of the teams' standings. Laura Hájková, too, was doing fine: by coming eleventh in the second Cup Race, she managed to take one point for the O2 Motorsport team. Slovak driver Marek Ďurovkin, representing the CSMS team, did not score any points this time.
