Matějovský is getting ready for the race in Porto
Last weekend, besides contesting the MMČR endurance race with the SEAT Leon SC TDI car of the SEAT Sport Slovakia team on the Brno race track, Michal Matějovský also made good use of an available computer simulator to get some training for the race in Porto, Portugal. This is a very difficult city-circuit, and Michal, up till now, has not had any experience of driving there. Moreover, it is not possible to conduct any tests on this track.
The history of the well-known Circuito da Boavista dates back to the 1950s, when race cars had to squeeze through the narrow cobbled alleys and roads between little houses. In 1960, the circuit was shut down due to safety concerns, and no racing events were held there until 2005, when it was completely refurbished and its length was adjusted to 5333 meters in order to meet contemporary requirements. Ranked as a city-circuit for the races of the FIA World Touring Car Championship series (WTCC), the Circuito da Boavista is to host the third round of this year of the SEAT León Eurocup series at the beginning of July.
'I have been preparing really carefully for this season. That's why I appreciated the opportunity to get some practice before the race in Porto at least at the Simracing company's simulator (www.simracing.cz), and so I would like to express my thanks to them,' said Michal Matějovský after completing several laps at the computer simulator, which was installed in the facilities of the VEKRA Racing Team, whose drivers contested the prestigious 2009 Česká Pojišťovna Škoda Octavia Cup race at the Brno circuit.
