Excellent start at Valencia
The SUNRED-BRT team's Michal Matėjovský made a great impression on Friday at the free practice of the 2009 SEAT León Eurocup series' opening event in Valencia, Spain.
Each of the two free practice sessions at the Ricardo Tormo Circuit on Friday, 29 May, took place in very warm weather. Right away in the first one, attended by 21 drivers from eight European countries, Matėjovský claimed the third place, with a lap time of 1:46.044. Unfortunately, a mechanical problem in his car was detected afterwards, and so the mechanics had to replace a brake calliper and the intercooler. In the second session, on Friday afternoon, Matėjovský took a very close fourth place after setting a time of 1:46.379, which almost equalled the times of the drivers ahead of him. 'In the second free practice session, we used the tyres from the first one because, as specified by the Regulations, we only have 12 tyres at our disposal for the entire weekend action and so we have to be very careful about them. I am satisfied with the car and I look forward to tomorrow's timed practice and Race 1,' Michal Matėjovský said at the end of the Friday free practice at the Valencia Circuit.
For Saturday, the weather forecast is for a very high temperature of up to 36° C. At 11:00 a.m., Matėjovský is to attend the qualifying for Race 1. The first race of this year of the SEAT León Eurocup series starts at 4:35 p.m.
