Matějovský has reinforced his position among the leading drivers

The SEAT Leon Eurocup continues with its second round this weekend. For the first time, this series' race takes place in the Czech Republic, posing a great challenge to Michal Matějovský, racing driver of the SUNRED-BRT Spanish-Czech team.

'Our team made their best to prepare the car for this racing event held at our domestic circuit. On Friday, however, the weather deteriorated rapidly in the course of the free practice, and heavy, incessant rain set in. And, to top it all, I was not fully satisfied with my car, and the results of the two free practice sessions (eleventh and sixteenth positions respectively) did not come up to my expectations. So, we continued working on the car's set-up. The eighth best time in the qualifying on Saturday morning already indicated a certain improvement and a hope of a good result,' said Michal Matějovský, who started Race 1 from the fourth row of the grid on Saturday afternoon. During the ten-lap race, he managed to move up to the fourth place at the finish. 'I think that the beginning of the race was crucial. Right after the flying start, almost all the cars were squeezed in a pack. When we reached the first corner, I managed to find my way ahead, avoiding the collision that occurred there,' Michal Matějovský after the race commented on the battle at the Brno circuit.

The first race, contested by 22 drivers, was won by Michael Rossi, of France, who came ahead of Pedala, of Italy, and Barth, of Switzerland. By coming fourth, Michal Matějovský took 5 points. Before the Sunday race, he has 16 points in total and is second in the overall standings, just a single point behind Pedala, who took the lead after the Saturday race. Michal Matějovský and Massimiliano Pedala have increased their lead over Larini, Coronel and Rossi, who share the third place, each of them with 12 points.
