Valuable points from Brno

On Sunday, 21 June 2009, another racing event of the SEAT Leon Eurocup series took place at the Brno Circuit. Michal Matějovský, who had claimed the fifth place in the Saturday race, started on Sunday from the fifth spot of the grid, that is, from the third row. Michal made a good start and gradually moved up by one or two spots. However, due to collisions and a subsequent multiple crash, yellow and then red flags had to be put out. Afterwards, another start from the grid followed. Even then various collisions occurred and six drivers failed to cross the finish line. Matějovský managed to avoid all obstacles and joined the group consisting of Puyo (Italy), Michelisz (Hungary), Clairet (France) and Pedala (Italy), who led the race. All of them crossed the finish line well ahead of the pack. Michal came fifth, adding four points to his tally. With a total of twenty points, he is third in the overall standings. Pedala, of Italy, with 22 points, is first, and Diego Puyo, of Spain, with 22 points, is second.

'I was looking forward very much to this racing event in Brno, at my domestic circuit. Before the beginning of the season, I told to myself that an overall placing around the third to fifth place would be fine this year. I am very glad that I have managed so far. In two weeks' time, however, I will have to deal with the very difficult city circuit in Porto, Portugal. This will be my debut at that circuit. I know very well from my last year's experience at the city circuit at Pau, France, that it will be very difficult for me, right at Porto, to go on and achieve a good result. Naturally, I will try hard, and we will contest the race in Portugal at full stretch again,' Michal Matějovský said at the end of the racing event at the Brno Circuit.
