SEAT TDI dropped out due to engine trouble
As usual, this year's racing season at the Automotodrom Brno circuit was concluded by the EPILOG endurance race. Also taking part was Michal Matějovský, who joined the crew of the SEAT Sport Slovakia team. Despite the poor weather conditions (temperature of approximately 2°C, showers), Michal Matějovský claimed an excellent second place in the timed practice, in the face of the competition of almost twenty cars of the 2000cc category of Division 4.
Owing to Michal Matějovský's second place from the timed practice, the SEAT TDI crew had a fine position on the starting grid of Saturday's race. However, when their car was driving to the grid, its engine started misfiring. The first driver at the wheel in the race was the team's manager, Vlado Hybáček. Unfortunately, his involvement did not last long, as he had to go to the pits right away after Lap 1. The mechanics were trying hard to fix the problem, but they did not manage, and the team had to retire from the race. 'We have performed an analysis of the trouble, and it looks like we used poor quality fuel. On Monday, I will have a sample analyzed,' Vlado Hybáček explained. 'It is a pity, we had a very good chance of taking a podium spot. However, that is the way things are in motor sport,' said Michal Matějovský after the race.
