The thrilling FIA WTCC race in Puebla was reported by Petr Lutonský and Michal Matějovský
This weekend, owing to the ČT4 SPORT TV channel, Czech motor-sport fans could watch live the second event of the FIA WTCC (World Touring Car Championship) series in Puebla, Mexico. The thrilling racing event, reported in Czech by Petr Lutonský and by racing driver Michal Matějovský, who provided an accompanying expert explanation, saw a double win for Seat: Rickard Rydell, of Sweden, came first in Race 1, and Yvan Muller, of France, won Race 2.
'This really has been a thrilling race. The top positions were contested particularly by drivers with Seat and BMW cars. This development, on the whole, had been anticipated. The win for Seat had been expected as well, because Seat cars have an edge on this track. However, each of the two winning drivers finished his respective race with a very narrow margin, and so each of the two races was very interesting from the point of view of a spectator. There were numerous contacts between cars. One of these collisions resulted in a very severe 30-second penalty with a conditional 10-spot grid penalty for the next races for Gabriele Tarquini, with a Seat, which, in my opinion, perhaps is too strict. This incident, also involving Jorg Muller, with a BMW, occurred on lap 6 of Race 2. Muller's BMW went spinning afterwards and left the track for a moment. It appeared to me that Tarquini was not to blame for this situation,' said Michal Matějovský after the race. He is getting ready for two more FIA WTCC events in the role of an assistant reporter, that is, for the race in Marrakech, Morocco, on 3 May, and for Pau, France, on 17 May.
However, the next FIA WTCC racing event, in Valencia, Spain, will see Michal Matějovský with his Seat car right on the spot, as he is to take part in the opening event of the second year of the Seat Leon Eurocup series, which takes place there, at the Ricardo Tormo circuit, at the same time, that is, at the last weekend of May.
