Second Place in Moroccan Tuareg Rally 2015 Going to Svoboda's Team
Bringing no big changes in the final ranking, the final stage, two hundred and forty kilometres in length, took the Tuareg Rally 2015 competitors from Zagora to Ouarzazate, and had mostly hard, gravel pistes, and no sand dunes. The Svoboda Tatra Team, Václav Svoboda, Zdeněk Novák, Milan Drázda, would notch up their first great success in an African rally taking second place in the truck category after seven-day desert fights!
On Saturday, 14th March 2015, at 3.30 p.m. the vehicles taking part in the Rally arrived at the Karam Palace hotel in Ouarzazate. What the locals had first heard was sounding horns and roaring engines, a convoy of more than 200 vehicles arrived instantly. Among the winners' vehicles going in the front was the Czech truck of Václav Svoboda's team ... "We're happy we've made all Rally; and what is more we took the podium! Second place, naturally, brought us deep satisfaction from a great deal of hours of hard effort to prepare the vehicle with the new GyrTech engine. We'd started working on it virtually after the last season end, late in October, and completed the works just before the Tuareg Rally. I trust the truck, and the concept with the GyrTech engine made by Buggyra proved to be correct", said the team's boss, Václav Svoboda, at the end of the Tuareg Rally in Ouarzazate, Morocco. "We've got vast experience. Sections of most of the stages were in sand dunes, you can't see ones alike anywhere in Europe, such experience is valuable for next starts. My thanks go to all who had taken part in rebuilding the team's Tatra in winter, and all team partners and the crew who went through the Moroccan desert and help the team achieve today's success", he added.
The Dakar Tatra is now setting off on 4,000-km journey to the Czech Republic. Czech fans might see Svoboda's Dakar special in one of the test sessions in the Czech Republic. The team are going to take part in other races abroad, first in Poland, the Baja Drawsko rally held close to Szczecin in nearly a month's time (10th - 12th April, Drawsko Pomorskie, Poland; www.bajadrawsko.pl).
