Michal Matějovský Crowned Europe's Champion
The gala-evening in Paris on Thursday topped the season of the FIA European Touring Car Cup. One of the key figures of that gala-evening held in the exhibition area within the PARIS MOTORCYCLE SHOW was a racing driver Michal Matějovský from Hradec Králové, who was presented a trophy for Champion of Europe, class 2000 TC2.
The thirty-year-old Czech driver racing in the Křenek Motorsport team livery had dominated the six-round series, and topped his three-year appearance in the FIA ETCC taking the fifth place first season, winning the vice-champion title last year to finally capture the champion title. "It's definitely my greatest success I've notched up in my career so far. I'm grateful to a large team group, in particular the team that equipped such a perfect car, but also sponsors and fans," said Michal Matějovský. He was accompanied by his father, Stanislav, who had won the European truck racing champion title before, particularly fourteen years ago. "My Dad got me to motorsport, and had been supporting my career since. We're both happy about our joint effort to end in capturing the European Champion title. The gala-evening just crowned our long-year job," said the sportsman after being crowned the Champion of Europe.
The standings of more motorsport series were announced within that gala-evening, where an array of top racing drivers had been invited. "I'm glad I was part of such a society. It doesn't happen every day, so I hugely enjoyed the atmosphere that surrounded the event," were Michal Matějovský's final words after his Paris mission.
